On June 29, 2020, Clarivate Analytics released the 2019 Journal Citation Report. The impact factor of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA)(Elsevier, ISSN: 2213-9567; CN1220-50/TF) sponsored by Chongqing University reached to 7.115 (IF: 7.115),ranking in No. 2 among 79 SCI-listed worldwide Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering academic journals, JCR Q1. The impact factor of JMA increased rapidly from 4.523 last year to 7.115, indicating that the international impact of JMA has increased gradually. JMA has become one of the most influential academic journals on metallurgy and metallic materials in the world. It is an important breakthrough in the international academic influence of Chongqing University.
Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) was founded in 2013 by the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys (CCMg) of Chongqing University and Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Application.
Prof. Fusheng Pan from Chongqing University serves as editor-in-chief while Prof. Xiaodong Peng as executive deputy associate editor. The editorial board members consists of well-known experts in the field of magnesium alloys from more than 16 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan and Russia. The editorial board members include the president of the International Magnesium Association, academician of the American Academy of Engineering, the chairman of the Korean Materials Society, the member of the American Academy of Engineering, the editor-in-chief of Acta Mater and Mater Sci Eng A, etc., The editors of JMA editorial office include Dr. Yan Yang, and Dr. Jiangfeng Song who have overseas education experience. JMA was officially indexed in SCI database in December 2018, and was the first engineering journal that officially indexed in the SCI database in Chongqing.
Magnesium alloy is one of the most promising lightweight materials in the 21st century, and has been highly valued by the countries all over the world. As the first international journal on magnesium alloys in the world JMA has received strong support from Chongqing University, China Association for Science and Technology, famous Mg centers and Keai publishing company since its establishment. Prof. Changxu Shi, a famous material scientist, wrote the preface and served as the honorary editor-in-chief for JMA. The academic quality and influence of the journal continue to increase. In 2019, it was successfully selected as the leading journal of the "China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan" and is one of the 22 leading journals in China. It is the only national leading journal in the field of materials and metallurgy in China, and one of the four leading journals in central and western of China.
The editorial office of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys will continue to work hard and strengthen the internationalization, branding, and digital construction of the journal, with the purpose to further enhance the international impact, build an international brand journal, contribute to the construction of ‘double first-class’ of the University, and construct the world-class scientific and technological journal in China, and serve the development of magnesium alloys.
