Editorial Board meeting of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys was successfully held

On Mar. 18, 2023, the international editorial board meeting of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) was successfully held both online with Zoom and offline in Lanxi, Zhejiang. 76 Editors, youth editors and representatives from 13 countries including the USA, Germany, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Singapore, Iran, Malaysia, China, etc. attended the meeting. Prof. Fusheng Pan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, editor-in-chief of JMA, president of International Mg Society, and honorary director of the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, attended the meeting. The conference was hosted by Prof. Xiaodong Peng, executive deputy editor of JMA.

Firstly, Prof. Yan Yang, the Executive Deputy Director of Editorial Office, reported the progress and development of JMA in the past two years. With the efforts of all editorial board members and staff in the editorial office, the number of JMA published papers and impact factor has increased significantly. At present, the JMA impact factor continues to rank first in Metallurgy & Metallurgical Engineering Category. Subsequently, Prof. Xiaodong Peng, executive deputy editor of JMA, announced the JMA outstanding editor award and outstanding young committee member award in 2022, with a total of 10 experts winning the outstanding editor award and 23 experts winning the outstanding young committee member award.

The editorial board members congratulated the journal on its achievements, conducted in-depth discussions on how to further attract high-level research papers, improve the academic quality of JMA and expand the international impact of JMA, and put forward constructive suggestions. Prof. Karl Ulrich Kainer and Prof. Yuanding Huang from Helmholtz Zentrum Heron, Germany, Prof. Alan A. Luo from Ohio State University, USA, Prof. Prashant N. Kumta from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, Prof. Kwang Seon Shin from Seoul National University, South Korea, Prof. Bong Sun You from the Korean Institute of Materials Science, South Korea, Prof. Mingxing Zhang from University of Queensland, Australia, Prof. Ali Arslan Kaya from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi, Turkey, Prof. Jon Weiler from Meridian Lightweight Technologies, Canada, Prof. Wu Peidong from McMaster University, Canada, Prof. Enhou Han and Prof. Yuansheng Yang from the Institute of Metals, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. made good suggestionson the future development of JMA.

Finally, Prof. Fusheng Pan summarized the meeting, expressed his gratitude to the editorial board members and youth editorial board members who participated in the meeting, especially to Prof. Karl Ulrich Kainer (Associate Editor) from Germany and Prof. Kwang Seon Shin (Associate Editor) from South Korea for being able to participate in the meeting on site. Subsequently, Prof. Fusheng Pan affirmed the useful suggestions from the editors, and made specific arrangements for the future key work of JMA.
